JIN
The character for gold is jin. It is made up of the radical for Earth combined with two specks which are meant to represent two nuggets of gold hidden away beneath the Earth. The character reminds us that the true gold or alchemical treasure is not found out in the open. Rather, the treasure is hidden and must be searched for in places people often do not look.

The alchemical quest has been misunderstood by modern science and trivialized into an attempt to turn base metal into gold, but if we look more carefully, we discover that the authentic alchemical quest was for the spiritual power at the heart of the material universe, the source of life itself. The gold the alchemists were searching for was not only material. Their true gold was the golden light of the divine; their true work was the fixing or crystallizing of the golden light of the soul. The true alchemical quest was the transformation of the lead of ordinary life suffering into the gold of wisdom and spiritual insight.

The people, organizations and publications listed on this page are golden treasures I have experienced that might assist you in transforming the lead of your ordinary existence into the gold of an extraordinary life.
